Ready to explore some of Florida's best inshore waters? This five-hour guided fishing adventure takes you through Tarpon Springs' diverse coastal ecosystems, where the Gulf's shallow flats and protected backcountry hold some serious fish. Captain Saki and his crew know these waters like the back of their hand, and they'll put you on Redfish, Sea Trout, and Snook using techniques that work year-round. What makes this trip special is the seasonal flexibility – during May and June, you might find yourself sight-casting to massive Tarpon in Boca Grande, targeting fish that tip the scales at 80 to 100 pounds. Whether you're picking up a rod for the first time or you've been chasing inshore species for years, this charter adapts to your skill level and gives you the best shot at multiple species in one outing.
Your day starts with a top-notch boat that's built for navigating the varied terrain around Tarpon Springs. You'll move between pristine shallow flats where the water's so clear you can see fish from 50 yards away, and protected backcountry spots that hold fish when conditions get rough elsewhere. The beauty of inshore fishing here is the diversity – one minute you're working a grass flat in two feet of water, the next you're casting along a mangrove shoreline or working a deeper channel edge. Captain Saki keeps things moving and adjusts the plan based on tides, weather, and what the fish are doing that day. During peak Tarpon season, the crew might head to the famous waters around Boca Grande where these silver kings gather in massive schools. The boat stays spotless, the crew handles all the details, and you get to focus on what matters – catching fish and enjoying the Gulf Coast scenery.
All your tackle comes included, and these guys don't mess around with cheap gear. You'll fish with quality rods and reels that can handle everything from finicky Sea Trout to bulldogging Redfish. The approach changes based on conditions and target species – sometimes you're sight-casting to tailing Reds in skinny water, other times you're working soft plastics along structure for Snook. During Tarpon season, the crew switches to heavier tackle and uses live crabs and sardines to entice those giant fish into eating. Your Florida fishing license is covered, so there's no paperwork to worry about. The crew teaches proper casting techniques for beginners and shares advanced tips for experienced anglers looking to up their game. They'll show you how to read the water, spot fish movement, and present baits naturally. The key to success in these waters is staying quiet, making accurate casts, and being ready when fish show up – sometimes they appear in huge schools and the action gets fast.

Snook are the crown jewel of Florida inshore fishing, and Tarpon Springs holds some of the best Snook habitat on the Gulf Coast. These ambush predators love structure – docks, mangrove overhangs, bridge pilings, and oyster bars where they can hide and attack passing baitfish. They're notorious for their explosive strikes and acrobatic fights, often jumping multiple times and making long runs toward structure. Snook are temperature sensitive, so they move with the seasons. In cooler months, look for them in deeper channels and around warm-water discharges. Summer finds them scattered across flats and around shallow structure. The slot limit keeps things interesting – you need fish between 28 and 32 inches to keep, which means plenty of catch-and-release action with smaller fish and the occasional monster that's over the slot. What makes Snook special is their attitude – they'll hit topwater baits with authority, crush live bait, and test your drag like few other inshore species.
Sea Trout, or Spotted Seatrout, are the bread and butter of Gulf Coast inshore fishing. These beautiful fish with their distinctive spots and canine teeth are found over grass flats, around structure, and in deeper holes throughout the year. They're excellent table fare, which makes them a favorite target for families. Trout are relatively easy to hook but can be finicky about presentation – they often prefer a slow, subtle approach with soft plastics or live shrimp. During summer, early morning and late evening produce the best action as Trout move shallow to feed. Winter pushes them to deeper water and slower presentations. The size range keeps things exciting, with keeper-sized fish starting at 15 inches and occasional "gator" Trout over five pounds. They school up heavily during certain times of year, so when you find one, you'll often find many. Their willingness to bite makes them perfect for beginners, while their sometimes-picky nature keeps experienced anglers engaged.
Redfish are the ultimate inshore gamefish – they eat aggressively, fight hard, and grow to impressive sizes. In

Redfish are the bread and butter of our Tarpon Springs flats fishing. These copper-colored bruisers average 20-28 inches with that signature black spot near the tail. They cruise super shallow water - often with their backs out - around oyster bars, mangroves, and grass flats. Fall and spring provide prime fishing when they're actively feeding in the shallows. Guests love reds because they're sight-fishing targets that put up a serious scrap, making long runs and using their broad tails for power. They're also fantastic eating with mild, sweet meat. The key here is staying quiet and making accurate casts ahead of cruising fish. Once hooked, keep steady pressure but let them run - trying to horse them in shallow water usually ends with a broken line.

Spotted sea trout, or "specks" as we call them locally, are perfect for anglers wanting consistent action on the flats. Most run 14-20 inches with beautiful spotted backs and soft mouths that require a gentle touch. They love grass flats in 2-6 feet of water, especially around Tarpon Springs' productive backcountry areas. Best fishing happens during cooler months when they school up in deeper holes and channels. What guests love about trout is their willingness to bite and their delicate, flaky white meat that's outstanding on the table. They'll hit everything from live shrimp to soft plastics. Pro tip: use a lighter drag setting than you think you need - those paper-thin mouths tear easily, so let the rod do the work when fighting them.

Snook are one of our most sought-after inshore species here in Tarpon Springs. These golden, sleek fighters typically run 18-30 inches with that distinctive black lateral line down their sides. You'll find them around mangroves, docks, and creek mouths in 2-8 feet of water where they ambush baitfish. Spring through fall offers the best action, especially around moving water during tide changes. What makes snook special is their explosive strike and bulldog fight - they'll make powerful runs toward cover. Plus, they're excellent table fare with firm, white meat. One key tip: cast your lure past the structure and work it back alongside the cover where they're hiding. They're ambush predators, so precision counts more than distance.
